A child's profile that grows with them, not one handed down once
This isn't a DNA analysis or a one-off testing visit. Sports Predisposition is part of the overall athlete passport: a system that gathers data from 13 sources — from anthropometrics to daily wellness — over years, and turns it into a five-dimension profile. The coach screen says it outright: these are tendencies for development planning, not a verdict.
The profile changes as the child grows
This is how a coach sees an athlete on a five-dimension radar — not a number, but a shape that gradually reveals itself over months of tracking. Switch the age to see how the same profile changes.
13 sources, one profile
The profile isn't filled in during one visit. Some data comes from the coach, some from the athlete or parent, some is gathered automatically from training and matches. The cadence varies — from a daily 30-second wellness check-in to anthropometrics every 2–3 months.
| Module | Who enters it | What's measured |
|---|---|---|
| Anthropometrics | Coach · 2–3 mo | Height, weight, limb length, arm span → biological age (Mirwald, Khamis–Roche), growth velocity |
| FMS, 8 movements | Coach · ~6 mo | Throw, catch, kick, jump, sprint, side shuffle, single-leg balance, forward roll |
| Fitness, 7 tests | Coach · 3–6 mo | 20m sprint, broad jump, sit-and-reach, plank, beep test, jump reach, T-agility test |
| Psycho-behavioral | Athlete / parent · ~6 mo | Team orientation, competitive desire, grit, contact tolerance, motivation, coachability |
| Perceptual-cognitive | Coach / games · ~3 mo | Anticipation, decision speed, pattern recognition, spatial awareness |
| Daily wellness | Athlete / parent · daily | Sleep, mood, energy, soreness, motivation, stress — 30 seconds |
| Training session log | Coach · every session | Type, duration, session RPE, enjoyment |
| Sport history | Parent · at intake | Sports tried, hours, enjoyment → diversification index |
| Competition results | Coach / system · per event | Ratings, breakdowns, match stats |
| Coach holistic assessment | Coach · quarterly | 10 soft dimensions + predicted level at 18 |
| Engagement events | System / adults · as they happen | Joined/left sport, injury break, deselection — inputs for the dropout risk model |
| Social dynamics | Athlete / parent / coach · monthly–quarterly | Team belonging, peer and coach relationships, autonomy |
| Growth development (parent-only) | Parent · ~6 mo | Puberty cues — the coach sees only a composite score, never raw answers |
5 dimensions on the coach screen
All 13 sources roll up into an easy-to-read five-dimension radar — so a coach sees the profile at a glance, without paging through thirteen modules.
Body
Size, proportions, growth velocity, and biological maturity
Movement
Coordination and fundamental movement quality
Power
Speed, power, endurance, mobility
Game brain
Anticipation, decision-making, spatial awareness
Mindset
Motivation, grit, team orientation, coachability
What the system computes from this data
The collected data is processed by separate computation engines — each using established methods rather than formulas invented from scratch. Current approaches to development prediction are used: biological-age correction, the relative-age effect, and engagement risk models.
Mirwald, Khamis–Roche, composite maturity, grouping by pre/circa/post peak-height-velocity
Removes systematic bias in assessments caused by age differences within one intake cohort
A portfolio of 3–5 sports or volleyball positions (setter, outside, middle, opposite, libero), personality-adjusted
Sampling → specializing → investing → maintaining — stages shift with age and personality
Engagement, wellness, and social-dynamics signals → alerts to the coach only
A multi-respondent composite plus detection of perception mismatches
Acute-to-chronic workload ratio plus wellness → alerts to the coach
Training adjustments based on WBGT thresholds for the Gulf climate
Separately — the thing this page originally set out to explain: the fitness-battery results and the five-dimension radar are used directly to select a physical training program that fits this specific child, not a generic program "for their age."
Not a one-off visit — a lifecycle spanning years
What we deliberately don't do
Tanner staging by a coach. Assessing pubertal stage isn't a coach's job; from the growth-development block, they see only a composite score, never the parent's raw answers.
A numeric dropout or injury score shown to the athlete or parent. These scores exist only as alerts inside the coach interface.
De-anonymizing bullying reports. The social module anonymizes these signals by default.
Genetic testing. None of the 13 modules requires or uses DNA analysis.
Part of the overall athlete passport
Sports Predisposition doesn't exist on its own — it's Block A of the athlete passport, the same unified six-dimension profile the coach and parent see, parts of which can, with family consent, go out into an academy's external scout passport. All 13 sources described above ultimately write into the same measurement history the passport draws on.
Where the method is being tested right now. Like other Paideia modules, the system is being piloted at a partner volleyball academy in Dubai — the first setting, not the only application.
How this is different from the market
| Category | What it offers |
|---|---|
| Sports DNA tests | A single genetic marker, one-off — scientific consensus is against using it to select children |
| Talent ID camps | A one-off assessment on a given day — ignores biological age and never updates |
| Standard fitness tests | Measure current fitness in the moment — not tied to growth, movement, motivation, and social context together |
| Paideia's Sports Predisposition | 13 data sources, years of tracking, a 5-dimension radar, dropout/injury risk visible only to the coach, part of the athlete passport |
